Take learning outdoors with School Projects
Here at Garden House Design we are proud to have worked with many local schools and nurseries in creating fantastic outdoor classrooms, play areas and sensory gardens and we would love to work with you too!
We can offer a full design and installation service, or simply supply product only and have many years experience of working to specific budgets. We have found that designs that involve less play equipment and more flexible space allow for more imaginative and varied play for the children. Why not check our school playgrounds portfolio gallery for inspriation.
Through our designs your gardens and play areas can also become educational resources - for example our veggie stations are a great resource for learning about World War Two, growing, cooking and healthy living and composting and recycling.
We are able to create bespoke sensory gardens that stimulate all five senses by using a combination of different textures and planting – from sandpits to lavender trails. We can also offer raised planting beds to bring scent and colour to eye height for small children and wheelchair users.
It is important that children are involved in activities such as balancing and climbing to help develop their motor skills and we offer a range of play equipment and play surfaces to suit all requirements.
Creating gardens that change with the seasons is particularly important to ensure there is continued interest; we can also suggest planting that will encourage wildlife into the garden – again another great teaching opportunity!
We can offer: Play Surfaces, Play Equipment, Sail Shades, Sensory Gardens, Story Telling Circles and Vegetable Gardens.
We also have a fabulous range of unique outdoor musical instruments. Simply click here to check out more information or phone us for more details.
If you are thinking of extending learning to the outdoors, why not give us a call to have an informal chat with a member of our team to discuss your options.
Stimulate your senses with our Sensory Gardens
Here at Garden House Design we understand the importance of a well-designed sensory garden. We are able to ensure a brief is brought to life to become a sensory stimulating area suitable for its intended users, be they, adults or children, able-bodied or disabled. Whatever, the requirements of your sensory garden may be, we can work with you to ensure you are left with a useful, sustainable, sensory stimulating space that will evoke all the senses and help your service users to embrace nature.
To ensure all elements of the garden are accessible scent, colour, water and lighting are set at various levels through the use of raised beds, planters and troughs to ensure people of all ages and abilities are able to enjoy the sensory garden.
Planting is selected for vibrant colours, prominent fragrances and non-toxic qualities. We like to use planting that will attract wildlife into the garden, thus adding an extra element of stimulation to the garden.
Sensory gardens can include spaces built to climb and balance upon, making for an interactive environment and the use of bridges, tunnels and textured flooring can be used to create a stimulating environment for wheelchair users. We often use artificial lighting alongside areas of natural light and shade for extra interest. Water brings sound and movement into a garden and can be a very calming influence on the space but equally can be used for fun and play applications too.
