Picked again to build a Chelsea Garden

Great news for us here at Garden House Design, as we have been apppointed as the main contractors to help build an award winning garden at Chelsea designed by Jane Owen and Anne-Marie Powell for Green & Black's.

Green & Black's Rainforest Garden

This garden is a first for Chelsea; it conjures up a rainforest family home and has been made, in part, by Cameroonian indigenous women who want to raise awareness about the threats that they and the rainforest are facing.

The garden has its roots in the 18th century British tradition of narrative gardens, which expressed all kinds of stories from the political to the personal. The story of this garden is about changes that hunter gatherers are makign as their hunting grounds are being destroyed by illegal logging, mining and bush meat hunting. Roughly cleared productive plots planted, like this one, with crops like maize and cassava are one of the ways that indigenous communities now provide food for themselves.

You will be able to find the garden in the Courtyard Garden Section, Ranelagh Middle 16.

Spring is Here

What great weather so far! fingers crossed for the Easter Holidays.

The good weather has been great for business the phone has been ringing and we have completed all of our projects ahead of schedule.

We are also pleased to announce that after a stringent vetting process Garden House Design (Touch of Magic Ltd) have been accepted by West Sussex Trading Standards as an approved contractor within the "Buy With Confidence" scheme.

After alot of consideration we applied to join this scheme, amongst the multitude of other approval schemes, as Trading Standards obviously have no commercial motives behind their service, only to offer the consumer the best advice possible.

We have also recently finished possibly our best project ever, not only have we created a fantastic garden, we also finished on time and on budget.

The reason for this is very simple Teamwork, from the original design by Ann Marie Powell, to the design changes made by Sally (our client) to personalise and really create the outdoor space right for her, to the project management and construction by us. All the way through, all parties communicated, worked hard, but also had fun.

The garden is great now, but watch this space for updates as the garden develops, and the plants and hard landscaping start to blend and complement each other, really creating a fantastic garden.
